Kick back and relax this weekend.
Weekend meals can be a time for relaxing in the kitchen. No time clocks, no stress, no one needing to eat in a hurry to make an event. OK what planet did I wake up on? This is not real life, especially if you have a few children or social commitments. I find it funny that life is just getting faster and faster. There are not enough hours in the day. Well, I believe that you should make a date with your kitchen at least once a week.
A play date in the kitchen with a "go to" cup of tea or coffee, even your favourite tunes, or Food Network Episodes. This is where planning, can save you time , money and headaches. I always have a mental plan of what is coming up in the week for meals. For example, Saturday evening I made a Broccoli and Cheddar Soup, with enough left for another meal. Sunday was Shepherds Pie, and you guessed it, enough for another meal. So that is 2 meals taken care of for the week. I usually don't start cooking again until Wednesday. I'll have the Shepherds Pie recipe online tomorrow.
Eat Healthy...it's Cheaper, and Better for You!
Let's face it a processed meal, or take out cannot replace something home cooked. Something that you put together for your family. you may be an accomplished cook, and if not, don't worry about it. I'm here to help. I have resources and experience I'm going to share. I want you to know what is on your fork, and what you're putting in your body. Is it good for you? If there are no chemicals or a nutrition label that has more than a few ingredients, then the answer is yes. Now that is something we all want to eat.
Let's start planning.
This week I'll start the process of planning and shopping, for next week. On Wednesday I'll post my walk through to make a shopping list. Have a look at the pantry post, and you'll see that once the pantry is set up and stocked, the lists get smaller each week.
